In-House Organizational Training

How We Work

We learn deeply about your context in our Training Kickoff Call.

1.

We develop a training plan customized to your organizational needs and resources.

2.

We partner to develop case practice scenarios that feel home-grown and immediately applicable to your team.

3.

We conduct an engaging, actionable training, including mini-lessons, scenario and small group practice, and opportunities for discussion and reflection.

4.

5.

We debrief afterward, hear feedback from you and share our own observations and suggestions to ensure the learning sticks.

We offer virtual or in-person training that is engaging and customized to your organizational challenges and context.

Our coaching plans are tailored to the needs of individual clients, but typical engagements include skill-building and practice, practical advising and guidance, and the opportunity to develop greater self-awareness of your strengths and gaps as a leader.

Find success

“I am so grateful for the SLAM and all you’re doing /have done for APAH! I have literally been using things we talk about in SLAM within hours of the meetings—with my fellow Directors, direct reports, others I informally manage, and with a mentee who works outside the organization. I really love your fast-paced, informal/down-to-earth style, all the great examples and metaphors, and the way you weave equity into everything. Really looking forward to the in-person trainings we’re getting with you soon. And I will definitely be signing up for some “spot coaching”!”

- Mitchell Crispell, Director of Real Estate Development, APAH

95% of our Spring 2024 cohort attendees say our SLAM sessions equip them with practical tools to improve their management immediately.

  • Breaker 28 has a robust menu of trainings that can be tweaked and customized with the client in mind. The efficiency of not having to start from scratch but also to have the option to make sure the content fits organization is so helpful (and rare!). Mel is the best trainer that we have come across in the DEl/Culture/HR space. She is so wise, has great examples and anecdotes and so skillfully guides participants through content that can be difficult. She is not hesitant to call out behaviors that need to change but does so with care. She models what she is teaching.

    Kim Painter,
    Vice President, APAH

  • "Mel's training are always interactive, relevant, engaging, and meet our organizational objectives."

    Christine Peterson,
Vice President of Talent & Equity, WEST End Strategy

  • "Mel's 'case studies' or mini scenarios she brings into the trainings are so real and relevant - they really help us unpack how we are working together in a safer way by talking about other people in other companies. Mel is a credible outside leader who is able to help shine a light on challenges that can be harder for our own leadership team to do all the
